Programs of forced adoption and deportation of children under the guise of recreation and rehabilitation are likely to form the basis of Russia’s massive depopulation campaign.
Forced adoption of Ukrainian children into Russian families is advertised in the Russian Federation. This was announced by the American Institute for the Study of War (ISW) in a report on November 16.
It was noted that on November 9, prominent Russian military bloggers began distributing a multi-part documentary series about some Ukrainian children from Donbass who were adopted into Russian families.
It says that in 2022 alone, Russian authorities “evacuated” more than 150,000 children from the Ukrainian region.
“It is unclear how exactly Russian sources calculated this figure, but Ukrainian officials previously estimated the number at 6,000-8,000 people,” analysts said.
In addition, the leader of Chechnya, Ramzan Kadyrov, said that he is working with the Russian Commissioner for Children’s Rights, Maria Lvova-Belova, to attract “difficult teenagers” from different regions of Russia and the occupied Donetsk and Lugansk regions in the republic. to carry out “preventive work” and “military-patriotic aggrandizement”.
ISW recalled that Lvova-Belova continued to promote the deportation and adoption of Ukrainian children and herself adopted a child from Mariupol.
“Programs of forced adoption and deportation of children under the guise of vacations and rehabilitation programs are likely to form the basis of Russia’s massive depopulation campaign … and represent a broader effort by ethnic cleansing,” military experts summed up.
Earlier, President Volodymyr Zelensky said the Russians had deported 11,000 children from the occupied territories of Ukraine.
