The US administration has full confidence in the investigation being conducted by the Polish government.
US authorities have held Russia responsible for the missile downing incident in Poland, regardless of the outcome of the investigation. This was reported on the White House website on Wednesday, November 16.

“We have full confidence in the Polish government’s investigation into the explosion near their border with Ukraine, and we thank them for the professional and dedicated approach with which they are conducting this investigation. We will not prioritize their work, and will remain in close contact with our colleagues in Poland, as we are still collecting information,” the statement said.
The White House noted that they found nothing inconsistent with President Andrzej Duda’s initial assessment that the explosion was likely the result of a Ukrainian air defense missile that fell in Poland.
Washington has assured that they will continue to transparently analyze and share any new information as soon as it becomes available. Also, the US will continue to be in close contact with the Ukrainian side regarding any information it has to complete the picture.
“However, regardless of the final conclusions, it is clear that the party ultimately responsible for this tragic incident is Russia, which fired missiles into Ukraine specifically designed to destroy civilian infrastructure. Ukraine has and has the right to self-defense,” summed up in the white house.
On Wednesday, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said he did not believe a Ukrainian missile had landed in Poland. He received reports from the command of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and the Air Force and “couldn’t help but trust them.”
