Households in the districts of Chimyshli, Balti, Straseni, Hinchesti and partly in the city of Chisinau were left without electricity.
Moldova on Tuesday, November 15, stopped receiving electricity from Romania, after which some regions of the country lost electricity. This was reported by NewsMaker, as well as TV8.
It was noted that according to the power grid operator Moldelectrica, the cessation of electricity supplies from Romania to Moldova occurred around 16:40.
The high voltage line Isaccea-Vulcanesti-MGRES has stopped working. This is the main transmission line, through which Moldova receives electricity from Romania.
According to preliminary information, households were affected in the districts of Chimyshli, Balti, Straseni, Hinchesti and partially in the city of Chisinau.
According to Moldova’s Deputy Prime Minister Andrei Spinu, the reason for the power outage was Russian rocket attacks on critical Ukrainian infrastructure.
“As a result of Russia’s shelling of the Ukrainian energy system, in the past hour, one of the power lines that provide electricity for our country (automatic frequency load shedding) was automatically disconnected. This caused a massive power outage in whole country,” he said on Telegram.
The Deputy Prime Minister of Moldova added that the lines themselves were not damaged as a result of the Russian strikes in Ukraine, but were automatically disabled for security purposes.
It will be remembered that on Tuesday, November 15, the Russian Federation launched a massive missile attack on Ukraine, firing 100 missiles.
As a result of a massive missile attack by the aggressor country Russia in Ukraine, power went out in several large cities.
