The head of the CIA met with his Russian counterpart to warn the Russian Federation against using nuclear weapons in Ukraine.
CIA director William Burns met with Russian foreign intelligence chief Sergei Naryshkin in Turkey to warn Russia against using nuclear weapons in Ukraine. This was announced on Monday, November 14, by a representative of the White House, according to the New York Times.
It was reported that the meeting in Ankara was not intended to negotiate or discuss any settlement of the war in Ukraine. The main topic is a warning to Russia against the use of nuclear weapons.
At the same time, Ukraine was informed in advance about the trip.
Burns also raised the issue of Americans imprisoned in Russia at the meeting.
The Russian delegation in Ankara was led by Sergei Naryshkin, head of the country’s foreign intelligence service.
It was earlier reported that the US and Russian delegations were holding unannounced talks in the Turkish capital, Ankara.
It will be remembered that the last time the delegations of the United States and Russia met in Geneva was on January 10 this year. Then it’s about security guarantees.
