US Secretary of State Blinken assured that the timing and framework of negotiations with Russia depend on Ukraine’s decision.
Foreign Minister Dmitry Kuleba and US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken met on the sidelines of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) summit in Cambodia’s capital Phnom Penh on Saturday. This was stated in a statement by the spokesman of the US State Department, Ned Price.
During the meeting, Blinken said that the timing and framework of negotiations with Russia depended on Ukraine’s decision.
The Secretary also noted the United States’ unwavering commitment to help Ukraine mitigate the effects of Russia’s continued attacks on critical infrastructure, including by expediting humanitarian assistance and scaling up efforts in the winter.
Blinken and Kuleba also reaffirmed the importance of extending the Black Sea Grain Initiative before it expires on November 19, as well as its role in maintaining global food security.
They also discussed maintaining effectiveness on the battlefield. The Secretary of State reaffirmed the position that “the time frame and the content of any framework of negotiations remains up to the decision of Ukraine.”
Recall that earlier the official representative of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Maria Zakharova, said that Moscow is ready for negotiations with Kyiv based on the current facts.
