Russia does not allow humanitarian aid to be delivered – UN

Over the past four weeks, the UN and partner organizations have delivered six humanitarian convoys to the occupied Kharkiv and Kherson regions.

The Russian Federation does not allow the delivery of UN humanitarian supplies to the temporarily occupied territories of Ukraine. This was announced on Friday, November 11, by Stephanie Tremblay, Assistant to the Speaker of the UN Secretary General, Ukrinform writes.

“We don’t have access to the entire line of contact,” he said.

At the same time, Tremblay noted that humanitarian missions continue to expand their activities and prepare cargo “for delivery to areas where active hostilities are taking place, as well as to areas recently under control of Ukraine.

Tremblay noted that over the past four weeks, the UN and partner organizations have delivered six humanitarian convoys to the areas of Kharkiv and Kherson regions, which recently became available to international organizations.

“They brought water, hygiene products, medicines, kits for staying in winter shelters, etc. The last convoys were intended for more than 7,500 people in three communities of the Kherson region,” said he.

Tremblay did not rule out that the need for humanitarian supplies in Ukraine will only grow due to the energy crisis.

“We and our partners continue to work to increase emergency water supply and sanitation services,” Tremblay added.

He added that since February, humanitarian organizations have helped more than 5.7 million people in Ukraine.

Recall that a special session of the UN General Assembly to create a mechanism for Ukraine’s compensation for the damage caused by the armed aggression of the Russian Federation will be held on November 14, 2022. The Ukrainian government is waiting for “principle decisions of the UN” on this issue.
