The liberation of Kherson would allow the Ukrainian military to strike the occupiers’ supply line.
The liberation of Kherson and the territory on the right bank of the Dnieper is strategically important, because from these positions the Armed Forces of Ukraine will keep the three main roads in Crimea under fire control. Serhiy Kuzan, adviser to the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, said this in a commentary to the Financial Times.
“The Kherson region, located on the right bank of the Dnieper River, is strategically important from a military point of view, because it gives us fire control over the roads from the Crimea, which the Russians use as supply lines, Kuzan said.
According to him, it will deal a very strong blow to the Russian troops. Three important roads run through the land bridge, and a number of Russian logistics facilities and ammunition depots are within range of Ukraine’s precision-guided missile system supplied from the West. It would threaten a critical supply route fueling Russia’s war effort from the peninsula.
As you know, on November 9, Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu ordered the withdrawal of Russian troops from the right bank of the Kherson region.
It was also reported that Russia would need at least a week to withdraw its troops from Kherson.
