The State Department said it expects “signals” from Russia that it is ready for peace talks in Ukraine.
The United States expects “signals” from Russia that it is ready for peace talks in Ukraine. This was in a briefing on Thursday, November 10, US State Department spokesman Ned Price said.
“We know that President Zelensky has said that this war must be ended with diplomacy and dialogue. At the beginning of this week, he again made it clear that Ukraine is ready for a just peace, the formula that we have repeatedly recited,” Price said.
He also added that Russia’s statements about its readiness for peace talks were not convincing.
“From time to time, the Russians expressed the same feelings, but, unfortunately, we only saw that they combined these feelings with brutal aggression against the Ukrainian people, aimed more and more at Ukrainian infrastructure,” said a State Department spokesman.
He emphasized that Moscow must show “not only in words but in deeds” that it is ready for negotiations, as the world heard from Ukraine.
Earlier, the Presidential Office explained why the Russian Federation needs negotiations and freezing the war.
