American politicians and the Ukrainian military will discuss the list of weapons and the speed of their supply, Volodymyr Zelenskyy said.
President Volodymyr Zelensky announced the arrival in Ukraine of United States Secretary of State Anthony Blinken and Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin. He said this at a press conference in Kyiv on Saturday, April 23.
According to the head of state, this visit to Kyiv could take place tomorrow.
“I will have a meeting with the secretary of defense and the secretary of state. If security allows, hopefully, the US president will come. Tomorrow we will discuss the list of weapons we need and the speed of their delivery,” he said. Zelensky said.
He stressed that in the past week, the situation with the supply of arms from the United States has improved drastically.
“And I am grateful for this. And we are very much looking forward to this. I would like that, apart from our people, we also have heavy and powerful weapons,” the president said.
It will be recalled that this week, Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal met with Blinken and Austin on a visit to the United States. They discussed three main issues for Ukraine – sanctions against Russia, finance and weapons.
