About a thousand Syrian mercenaries are in Russia during the exercises, half of them have already been to Ukraine.
Russia has sent about 500 Syrian fighters to the war in Ukraine. About this writes the publication Middle East Eye.
It was noted that Russian special forces and Wagner PMC militants are engaged in the recruitment of Syrians.
According to a Syrian government spokesman, about a thousand Syrian mercenaries are already in Russia for training, half of them have been to Ukraine.
According to regional intelligence sources, the militants were recruited from Syrian government units, which were previously supported and trained by the Russian Federation to fight the opposition and terrorists. Among them were fighters from the 25th Special Forces Division, known as Tiger Forces, Fifth Corps and Lewa al-Quds. These units are mostly composed of Palestinian Syrians.
However, it was noted that Russia does not send Syrian mercenaries to the front line due to language barriers and coordination problems.
“They will not be able to communicate normally with other Russian regiments on the open battlefield and, for example, they may be hit by Russian artillery,” the source said.
The Syrians are reportedly fighting under the leadership of military contractor Shield, PMC Wagner and the Rusich group, which has a neo-Nazi reputation.
Nine fighters have died in Ukraine since September, according to the London-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights. And the Syrian government said at least 50 people were killed as a result of the Ukrainian bombing.
It will be recalled that GUR reported that more than 8,000 mercenaries of the Russian private military company Wagner (League) are involved in the conflict on the territory of Ukraine.
It was also reported that during the day the enemy’s private military company in the direction of Bakhmut lost 138 of its soldiers.
