The successes of the Armed Forces of Ukraine were achieved thanks to the bravery and courage of Ukrainian soldiers, as well as the support of Western allies, the Secretary General of NATO said.
Russian President Vladimir Putin downplayed the bravery of Ukrainians and the West’s support for Ukraine. This is his strategic mistake, said NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg, told Anadolu yesterday.

“Putin made many big and strategic mistakes when he attacked Ukraine. One of these mistakes was that he underestimated the Ukrainians, their courage, their commitment to fight for their country and defend it,” the leader said of NATO after a meeting with the British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak in London.
According to him, Putin’s “another mistake” was that he underestimated the ability of NATO allies and partners to provide effective support to Ukraine.
“The victories and successes of the Armed Forces of Ukraine were achieved thanks to the bravery and courage of Ukrainian soldiers. But, of course, the support they receive from the United Kingdom, from NATO allies and partners, is also important, Stoltenberg said.
He warned that “if Putin wins Ukraine, it will not only be a disaster for Ukrainians, but will also make us weaker.”
Stoltenberg also commented on the decision of the Russian command to withdraw troops from Kherson. According to him, it is premature to draw final conclusions, because “what is actually happening on the ground” remains to be seen.
Earlier, the head of the CIA, William Burns, called out Putin’s mistakes. He called the last delusion of the Russian president his belief that Russia could allegedly win the war of attrition.
