A mediator, and even more so a person helping to free prisoners, cannot be harsh in their assessments.
Aleksey Arestovich, adviser to the Office of the President, said that the Pope’s statements about the war in Ukraine were explained by his participation in the exchange of prisoners of war. He said this on the evening of Tuesday, November 8, on Feigin Live.
“Now, perhaps, from this point of view, my compatriots can overestimate the words of the Pope, which attracts the balance, I would say. If he is not involved in the exchange process, it is a story. word,” Arestovich said.
According to him, a person who helps free prisoners cannot be harsh in his assessments.
“There is not even a mediator. And more than the mediator involved in the release of prisoners. He must be tolerant, humane, speak the right words. Therefore, I have a question: do you want him to give a sharp assessment, or that people, including from “Azovstal”, go home?” – said Arestovich.
Earlier, Pope Francis said that the brutality of the Russian military, with which they operate in Ukraine, is not inherent to the Russian people. He remembered the Russian writer Fyodor Dostoevsky, who, according to the pontiff, “still inspires Christians to understand Christianity.”
After that, the head of the UGCC brought a part of the Russian mine to the Pope. His Beatitude Svyatoslav declared that the war in Ukraine was clearly colonial and the peace proposals were nothing more than the pacification of the colony.
