Norwegian researchers have documented another variant of COVID-19, which could cause a new wave of diseases.
The Norwegian Public Health Institute (FHI) has documented the distribution of the new version of Omicron BF.7 in the country. This can cause an epidemic wave with a large number of patients. This was reported by NRK.
Along with the coronavirus, researchers predict an increase in the incidence of influenza, RSV infection and whooping cough.
“The load on hospitals, including children’s departments, can be large. If an increase in several diseases starts at about the same time, the load can be very large,” said FHI.
The peak of the incidence wave is in January-February, and a significant increase in the number of patients – from December, experts say.
The agency urged people who notice symptoms of respiratory illnesses to stay at home until they disappear.
However, problems with a large number of “severe” patients in Norway are not expected, since the majority of the population is vaccinated or sick. Older people were more likely to receive a booster dose.
Recall that at the end of October, Ukraine received 2.3 million doses of the Pfizer vaccine.
We add that in the Kirovograd region one child died from the coronavirus.
