A petition appeared on the City Council’s website with a proposal to spend the money given for celebrations on the Armed Forces of Ukraine or aid to IDPs.
On the petitions website of the Kyiv city administration, a proposal appeared to abandon the installation of a New Year’s tree on Sophia Square in the capital. The author of the petition, Natalya Popovich, suggests spending money on the Armed Forces of Ukraine or aid to IDPs.
“I consider it inappropriate to set up a Christmas tree – to spend money on its purchase, installation, maintenance and removal. It is more appropriate to spend the allocated funds on helping the Armed Forces of Ukraine or helping IDPs. I understand that there should be a holiday, but let every house have it, and we, as conscious residents of the capital, at the same time, this year we can do without installing the main Christmas tree of the country. After all, today is the main holiday that every Ukrainian expects is Victory Day,” the text said.
In less than a day, the petition collected 1,452 signatures out of the 6,000 required votes. There are 59 days left to collect.
Recall that earlier the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky supported a petition to ban the creative activity of citizens of the aggressor country Russia in Ukraine. It is supported by more than 25 thousand people.
