The Kyiv city prosecutor’s office filed an indictment against five JSC officials Kievgaz in the case of an explosion in a residential building in Poznyaki in June 2020. This was announced on November 8 by the press service of the department.
According to pre-trial investigation materials, the gas explosion that caused the collapse of the structures of a ten-story residential building and led to the death of five people and the injury of three, occurred due to non-compliance with technology . for checking home gas meters.
In the weeks before the explosion, employees Kievgaz they removed the gas meters from the apartments in this building and instead installed technological jumpers (bypasses). These actions led to a gas leak, which caused the explosion.
The company’s employees were charged with violating safety rules during the performance of work with increased risk, which led to the death of people (part 2 of article 272 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).
Among the officials charged, the first deputy chairman of the board of JSC Kievgazthe director of one of the branches, two chief engineers and the head of the labor protection service.
“These people were directly involved in the development and approval of the instructions, in which the gas meters were replaced by a bypass. The damage in the criminal proceedings was more than 53 million hryvnias,” asserted prosecutor’s office.
