Leipzig/Halle International Airport, where the Antonov airline is temporarily based, is helping to raise funds for the construction of the aircraft.
Information about the construction of a second An-225 Mriya instead of the aircraft destroyed by the Russian invaders at Gostomel airport needs to be corrected. This was announced on Monday, November 7, in a press service statement of the Antonov Group of Companies.
They emphasized that in an interview, the acting. Director General of the State Enterprise Antonov Evgeny Gavrilov for the German edition of Bild, a mistake was made about the construction of the second Mriya.
“Currently, design work has begun in this direction. According to the available expert assessment, there are currently about 30 percent of the parts that can be used for the second sample of the aircraft,” said the aircraft manufacturing company .
At the same time, they noted that it is too early to say that the plane itself is 30% ready.
Antonov added that more detailed information about the creation of the new Mriya will be distributed after Ukraine’s victory in the Russian war.
The press release also noted that the assembly of the new aircraft will take about 500 million euros, while it is “too early to talk about a specific amount.”
Earlier, the general director of the State Enterprise Antonov said that the aircraft was developed by a third.
Recall that on February 27, as a result of an air attack by Russian troops on the territory of the Gostomel airport, an An-225 Mriya was set on fire.
The Security Service of Ukraine is investigating the circumstances of the destruction of the An-225 Mriya aircraft. The investigation found that the officials of the Antonov State Enterprise, despite the reservations of the state authorities, did not take appropriate measures to preserve the aircraft.
