BERLIN (AP) – Twitter has said it will no longer allow advertisers on its site to deny scientific consensus on climate change in response to existing policies. Google.
“Advertising should not detract from the meaningful conversation of a climate crisis,” the company said in a statement, outlining its new policy on Friday.
Twitter said it will provide more information in the coming months on how it aims to provide a “credible and powerful context for climate conversations” in which its users participate, including from Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change.
The company already has a dedicated climate theme on its website and is offering what it described as “initial bunkers” at last year’s UN climate conference to counter disinformation on the issue.
