The Director General of the European Bureau of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan confirmed the invariance of official Tokyo’s policy regarding the comprehensive support of Ukraine.
The First Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Emine Dzhaparova discussed with the Director General of the European Bureau of the Japanese Foreign Ministry Nakagome Masashi additional support for Ukraine in the face of the full aggression of the Russian Federation. Ukraine will be a priority during Japan’s G7 Presidency in 2023, the Japanese Foreign Ministry assured. This was reported by the press service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine.
Dzhaparova noted the importance of additional support for Ukraine on the eve of a difficult winter season. In addition, he noted that by conducting missile strikes on energy infrastructure, the Russian Federation aims to deepen the humanitarian crisis and cause a new wave of refugees from Ukraine.
He thanked the Japanese side for constant financial assistance and humanitarian aid to the Ukrainian people, as well as efforts to increase the pressure of sanctions on Russia.
Masashi reportedly confirmed the lack of change in Tokyo’s official policy regarding Ukraine’s comprehensive support. In particular, it was noted that Japan will continue to provide strong humanitarian support and assistance in mine clearance. He also promised that Ukraine will be a priority during the Japanese G7 Presidency in 2023.
“We will continue to rally the G7 for more strong support for Ukraine and support a strict sanctions policy,” he stressed.
Dzhepparova also highly appreciated the active participation of the Japanese side in the activities of the International Crimean Platform.
Earlier it was reported that the G7 warned the Russian Federation about “consequences” for weapons of mass destruction.
