IAEA experts will arrive at the nuclear power plant on the anniversary of the Chernobyl disaster and conduct radiological and other measurements.
Next week the mission of the International Atomic Energy Agency led by its director Rafael Mariano Grossi will visit the Chernobyl nuclear power plant, the press service of the IAEA reports.
Specified that the organization’s experts will work at the Chernobyl nuclear power plant to “strengthen efforts to avoid the risk of a nuclear accident” in connection with Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.
The expert mission will begin work on the nuclear power plant on the anniversary of the Chernobyl disaster – April 26.
They will take the necessary equipment, conduct radiological and other measurements at the Chernobyl nuclear power plant, which will be controlled by the Russian occupiers for five weeks.
“This will be followed by additional IAEA missions here and at other nuclear facilities in Ukraine in the coming weeks,” Grossi said.
Recall that on March 31, Russian troops left the Chernobyl nuclear power plant and the city of Slavutych.
