The head of state noted that it should not be so that a person sits for ten hours without electricity, and on the other side of the street everything is connected, including the street light.
President Volodymyr Zelensky urged energy companies to conduct blackouts in a fair and predictable manner. He said this in his evening speech on Thursday, November 3.
“Please, more actively explain to people when and why you kill this or that street, this or that district. Now is the time for such micro-communications. People have the right to know,” said by Zelensky.
He also called for addressing the injustices of the blackouts.
“If someone is without electricity for eight or ten hours, and everything is connected across the road with street lights, then it is definitely not fair. We must do everything to make it predictable and understandable closures,” the president said.
He also said that on Thursday night, about 4.5 million consumers were temporarily disconnected from consumption according to the emergency and stabilization schedules.
“In particular, in Kyiv and ten regions: Kyiv region, Dnipropetrovsk region, Zhytomyr region, Zaporozhye region, Sumy region, Kirovohrad region, Kharkiv region, Chernihiv region, Khmelnytsky region, Cherkasy region. Shutdowns are also possible in other regions,” he specified.
Zelensky emphasized that Russia uses fear against energy because of its vulnerability.
“They cannot defeat Ukraine on the battlefield and therefore they are trying to destroy our people like this – to humiliate the Ukrainians, to strike the spirit of our people, to the resistance of our people. I believe that the Russia will not succeed,” the president said.
He added that in order to withstand the fear of Russian energy, passing such a test is one of the main tasks today.
Recall that today Ukrenergo warns that tomorrow a power outage is planned in ten regions of Ukraine and Kyiv.
On the eve, emergency blackouts reportedly began in the Kiev region.
