German citizens must leave Iran due to the deteriorating security situation in that country. This statement was made by German Foreign Ministry Annalena Burbock before the start of the G7 meeting in the German city of Munster, Ukrinform reported on Thursday, November 3.
He recalled that in recent weeks the world has been watching the brutal violence used by the Iranian regime against its own citizens. Burbock, according to him, as the head of the German Foreign Ministry stands on the side of the people of Iran, on the side of international law and human rights.
“On the other hand, I am responsible for the security of those in Iran with German citizenship. Therefore, we respond to the security situation in Iran in this way and closely coordinate activities with our international partners,” said of the minister.
A corresponding appeal also appeared on the website of the German Foreign Ministry. The report states that “for German citizens there is a concrete threat of being illegally arrested, interrogated and sentenced to long periods of imprisonment.”
It is clarified that, first of all, citizens with dual citizenship, who, in addition to German, also have Iranian citizenship, are at risk. Recently, there have been a large number of arrests of foreign nationals.
It will be remembered that since September, the protests have not stopped in Iran, where the cause was the death of a 22-year-old Kurdish girl, Mahsa Amini. She was detained by the morality police on September 13 in Tehran for allegedly wearing the hijab incorrectly and died in hospital a few days later.
The first protests broke out in Iran on September 16 during Mahsa’s funeral ceremony in his hometown of Sekkez and in the administrative center of Iranian Kurdistan, the city of Senendej, and then spread to most of the country. There were dead and wounded, but the exact number is unknown.
