Metropolitan Epiphanius, head of the Orthodox Church of Ukraine, yesterday, November 1, handed over to the clergy of the OCU the first part of the mandates for the right to carry out military chaplaincy.
This was reported by the press service of the Main Directorate of Intelligence (GUR) of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine.
Together with the document officially granting the right to serve in the units of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the National Guard of Ukraine, the State Border Service of Ukraine and other military formations formed in accordance with the laws of Ukraine, all chaplains received new cassocks from His Beatitude Bishop.
It is noted that Epiphanius, addressing those present, noted the importance of the spiritual support of Ukrainian soldiers and the responsibility that lies with military chaplains in this regard.
Now we hear the successes of our troops on the battlefield, but the enemy is insidious and cruel, and the difficult and bloody struggle continues, the Metropolitan emphasized. “Therefore, we must intensify our efforts, inspire our glorious defenders to liberate the Motherland from the invaders, and constantly use our first spiritual weapon — prayer to the All-Merciful Lord. We are moving further along the path of truth, because it is this path that is pleasing to God and will certainly lead to victory.
