The vice-rector and director of the opera studio asked for UAH 160,000 for one day of renting a concert hall.
Under the procedural leadership of the Shevchenko district prosecutor’s office of the city of Kyiv, the vice-rector and director of the opera studio of the National Music Academy of Ukraine named VIPI Tchaikovsky. So, for one day of renting a concert hall for filming a commercial, the officials demanded 160,000 hryvnias from the tenant, which is equivalent to 4,000 US dollars.
The transfer of funds took place in two stages. When the second tranche was received in the amount of 2 thousand US dollars, the officials were detained in one of the basements. During the searches, another 32,000 US dollars and 5,000 euros were confiscated from the defendants.
The detainees have been informed of the suspicion and the issue of the choice of measures has been decided. Other possible facts of their illegal activities were established.
The crime of corruption was exposed by prosecutors together with SV investigators of the Shevchenko UE GUNP in Kyiv based on the materials of the Pravoberezhny GRO of the Main Directorate of the SBU in Kyiv and the Kyiv region.
