The businessmen are accused of embezzling 800,000 tons of oil worth more than $400 million between December 2006 and October 2007.
The Kazan District Court arrested Ukrainian businessmen Igor Kolomoisky and Gennady Bogolyubov in absentia. On Wednesday, November 2, Forbes reports related to the court’s decision.
It is noted that the court decided in absentia to elect businessmen a preventive measure in the form of detention. They are accused of embezzling 800,000 tons of oil worth more than $400 million in the period from December 2006 to October 2007, allegedly with the complicity of other participants.
According to the investigation, the Russian oil company Tatneft supplied this oil through intermediary enterprises to the tanks of the Ukrtatnafta oil refinery in the Poltava region.
The publication writes that in June of last year, Tatnafta-AZS-Ukraine LLC announced plans to optimize and develop retail fuel sales. Tatnafta decided to sell 31 filling stations and seven tank farms in Kharkiv and Poltava regions. In total, Russian Tatneft in Ukraine owns 91 gas stations, nine tank farms and one gas station in Kharkiv and Poltava regions.
Recall that in June 2022, the assets of Russian Tatneft were confiscated in Ukraine. 115 real estate objects were arrested: oil depots, gas stations, non-residential buildings, land plots and 118 fuel trucks and cars. Only the value of corporate rights of enterprises and movable property is about UAH 400 million.
Before that, at the end of May, Ukraine took over the property of Russian Tatneft.
