Britain confirmed a trilateral agreement, as a result of which Ukraine will receive T-72 tanks.
The UK is sending Challenger 2 main battle tanks to Poland to replace the T-72 tanks that Poland will transfer to Ukraine. The relevant information was confirmed by the British Ministry of Defense, the BBC reports.
It was noted that the tanks were sent in addition to armored fighting vehicles sent directly by the UK to Ukraine, it has already been announced.
Defense Secretary Ben Wallace is expected to make a statement on the matter at a later date.
Recall that Britain decided to move at least 120 armored vehicles to Ukraine. Of these, 80 are Mastiff, Husky and Wolfhound vehicles designed to deliver personnel to a combat zone.
Another 40 vehicles were adapted for battlefield reconnaissance and for other purposes. These, in particular, were Spartan vehicles, designed to carry four fighters along with groups of three, a front-line “fast” Samaritan, Sultan armored command vehicle, and Samson armored vehicle.
It was previously reported that dozens of Ukrainian soldiers were undergoing training in the United Kingdom, where they learned how to use British armored personnel carriers.
