The Ministry of Finance believes that the activities directed against him were carried out by the Killnet group.
The US Treasury Department last month repelled cyberattacks by a Russian hacker group. On Tuesday, November 1, Voice of America reports.
The attack was repelled, and there were almost no failures, said Todd Conklin, spokesman for the Treasury Department.
The Treasury linked the DDoS attacks to the Russian hacker group Killnet, which claimed responsibility for disrupting the websites of several US states and airports in October.
Conklin described the Treasury attack as “a relatively low-level DDoS activity targeting critical Treasury infrastructure nodes.”
“In accordance with new procedures adopted under the Biden administration, Treasury quickly provided the IP addresses used in the attack,” he said.
The incident happened days before similar Killnet attacks on American financial services companies, the department added.
Recall that a number of major US airports have come under cyber attacks by the Russian Federation.
