Bulgaria has extended the accommodation program for Ukrainians fleeing the war indefinitely. This was reported by The Sofia Globe.
According to the interim Minister of Internal Affairs of Bulgaria, Ivan Demerdzhiev, Ukrainians will no longer be met in hotels, but in state institutions. All Ukrainian refugees living in hotels will be resettled within two weeks of November.
“We will not leave anyone on the street, those who need protection will be placed in state institutions and their support will continue,” Demerdzhiev stressed.
The publication notes that Bulgaria is one of the three countries where the residence program for Ukrainians is not time-limited. The other two are Ireland and Cyprus.
It is reported that, according to official figures, since February 24, 852,998 Ukrainians entered Bulgaria. Temporary protection was granted to 143,670 people.
Earlier it was reported that Bulgaria has become one of the largest indirect suppliers of weapons to Ukraine.
