The social network was blocked based on an article about information, information technology and information protection.
Roskomnadzor has restricted access to the t.me domain of the Telegram messenger. This Saturday evening, October 29, TASS reports.
It is noted that access to the page is restricted at the request of the Office of the Prosecutor General of the Russian Federation.
According to Russian Telegram channels, the social network was blocked based on Article 15.3 of the Federal Law About information, information technology and information protection. This rule allows the blocking of sites that, according to the Russian authorities, contain information “with calls for mass riots, extremist activities” or “informational materials of a foreign or international non-governmental organization whose activities are recognized as undesirable in the territory of the Russian Federation.”
As you know, the t.me domain is used in links to groups and users in the Telegram messenger.

Updated: shortly after Roskomnadzor announced that “the blocking of this social network (Telegram – ed.) is currently not included in the territory of Russia”, the t.me domain disappeared from the register of blocked resource.
However, according to netizens, there is still no access to the domain.
