The congress of the northern state of Tamaulipas approved this Wednesday reforms legalizing marriages between people of the same sex, known as egalitarian, with which this association is already legal in the 32 states that make up Mexico.
With 23 votes in favor, 12 against and one abstention, the initiative was approved, presented by MP Nancy Ruiz – from the conservative National Action Party (PAN), and before that – from the ruling National Revival Movement (Morena), which had previously submitted it. when it belonged to Morena, but on May 15 of this year, the Plenum rejected this proposal.
After the decision of the Congress of Tamaulipas, there was no longer a single state left that could change its Civil Codes and bring them into line with the rulings of the Supreme Court of the Nation (SCNC), which repeatedly ruled on the constitutionality of the reform.
Just a few hours ago Congress from the state of Guerrero, south of Mexicoapproved on Tuesday by a majority vote reforms that give legitimacy to equal marriage.
With this resolution, Tamaulipas becomes the 32nd in the country to reform the Civil Code allowing same-sex marriage.
two days ago Tabasco State Congress also endorsed the reforms equal marriage and only on October 11 last year State of Mexico became the 29th organization to approve equal marriages.
