Hungary positions itself as the staunchest opponent of Russian sanctions and often takes Russia’s side.
The position of the official Budapest does not carry “critical damage”, and therefore Kyiv will not change its attitude towards Hungary. This was announced on Friday, October 28, by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Dmitry Kuleba in an interview with TSN.
“There are some sensitive things, but there is no critical damage. If there is critical damage, we will change our position. At the moment, Viktor Orban has his own internal policy. He is playing it, fighting for Brussels money, criticizing Brussels, this is their business. Everything will be fine.”, assured Kuleba.
Hungarian authorities continue to advocate the end of EU sanctions against Russia, arguing that they are not working and only harm Hungarians.
“Orban is a very cunning politician. Even if he burns all the bridges, he will build a pontoon crossing. Hungary just has to wait. As long as it takes,” Kuleba added.
Athletistic previously wrote that official Budapest, against the backdrop of the devaluation of the Hungarian national currency forint, is trying to join the European Exchange Rate Mechanism.
In addition, the mayor of Budapest, Gergely Koraconi, accused Orban of lying about the benefits of buying gas from Russia.
