The head of the Ukrainian military personnel training mission in the EU is Polish Major General Piotr Tritek.
Polish Major General Piotr Tritek was appointed commander of the European Union mission to train Ukrainian military personnel. This was reported by the Polish edition of RMF 24.
He will lead the operational command, which will unify the process of training the Armed Forces of Ukraine: personnel, training organization of logistics, medical institutions, as well as training the Ukrainian army in the event of the use of biological, chemical or nuclear weapon.
The command itself is located in Poland’s Podkarpackie Voivodeship. The second operational headquarters is located in Germany, and in the Belgian capital Brussels – the administrative command.
In the first phase, it is planned to train 15 thousand Ukrainian fighters, the launch of the training mission is scheduled for November. Most of the exercises will take place in Poland – Ukraine insisted on such a decision for logistical reasons.
Petr Tritek previously served in Iraq and Afghanistan. He currently commands the 11th armored cavalry division.
Polish Defense Minister Mariusz Blaszczak reacted to assign Tritek to his Twitter account. He called it “a great responsibility and recognition of Poland’s position in the international arena.”
It should be noted that according to the Minister of Defense of Ukraine, Oleksiy Reznikov, almost all NATO and EU countries have joined training programs for the Ukrainian military.
