The representative of the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Colonel Yuriy Ignat, on the air of Ukrainian radio, explained in detail under what circumstances an air alert was announced in Ukraine.
“The air raid is activated in different cases, it is always done when there is a threat to the population, the military and everything in Ukraine. The alarm can be related to a missile attack, say, from the Black or Azov Sea, or when strategic aircraft take off – Tu-160 or Tu-195 bombers. On October 27, one of the alarms was related to the fact that two such bombers, which were Kh-101 carriers or Kh-555 missiles, entered the course of battle , from where they usually hit these missiles. Accordingly, information is immediately received that there is a high probability of launching missiles, where an air raid alarm was activated,” explained Ignat.
According to him, these missiles have a long flight range, more than 5,500 km, and therefore threaten the entire territory of Ukraine.
“Another threat that was on Thursday was the takeoff of the MiG-31K aircraft. We are talking about an aircraft that is the carrier of the Kinzhal hypersonic missile, which can also be used by the enemy,” added the colonel .
He also noted that at the beginning of the previous day there was a successful operation of the Ukrainian air defense, because from 22:00 to half past midnight on October 27, the attack of kamikaze drones continued, 19 of them were shot down in the territory of Odessa, Mykolaiv and Vinnitsa regions.
“These are three large groups of drones moving in their respective directions. It was not possible to shoot all of them, of course, there were some flights. But today the result is remarkable – more than 85% of the drones were shot down. said Ignat.
He also explained that sometimes information is received that anti-aircraft missiles will be used against ground targets, for example, S-300, then an alarm is also announced.

Recall that on Independence Day, August 24, an air raid alert in Ukraine was announced 189 times in total. Then the rocket attacks and shelling of the settlements of the nine regions were officially confirmed.
