Representatives of the Armed Forces of Ukraine are learning to use British armored vehicles, including Mastiff armored personnel carriers, to be sent to Ukraine.
Dozens of Ukrainian troops are undergoing training in the United Kingdom, where they have learned how to use British armored personnel carriers. This was reported by The Guardian on April 21.
“I can say that we are currently training Ukrainians in Poland to use air defense equipment, and indeed in the UK, to use armored vehicles,” Prime Minister Boris Johnson was quoted as saying.
It was noted that the United Kingdom will send at least 120 armored vehicles to Ukraine, including 80 armored personnel carriers Mastiff, Husky and Wolfhound.
Among the remaining 40 are Spartan reconnaissance vehicles, Samaritan medical vehicles, as well as Samson recovery and recovery vehicles and Sultan command and staff vehicles.
According to sources in the British Ministry of Defense, training on them lasts several weeks and is conducted mainly so that Ukrainians become familiar with the available control systems.
It is assumed that British forces in Poland were representatives of the UAF training in the use of the Starstreak anti-aircraft missile system and Stormer launch vehicles.
The Pentagon said this week that it would train the Ukrainian military “out of the country” to use 18 American howitzers from the first batch of aid.
Earlier it was reported that a group of Ukrainian military personnel had been trained in the United States in the use of Switchblade kamikaze drones, designed to destroy armored vehicles and tanks.
Britain and Canada would provide Ukraine with heavy artillery
