Since the beginning of the war, more than one billion euros of financial aid has been allocated to Ukraine, and this figure is planned to triple.
The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development will allocate up to three billion euros in the period 2022-2023 to support Ukrainian businesses and the economy. This was stated in a press release from the EBRD.
Since the beginning of the Russian invasion, more than one billion euros of financial aid has been allocated to Ukraine, and this number is planned to triple by the end of 2023.
“The main focus is on supporting the ‘real’ economy – energy and food security, rebuilding railway infrastructure and supporting the pharmaceutical industry,” the EBRD said.
According to the President of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, Odile Renaud-Basso, his recent meeting in Ukraine with President Volodymyr Zelensky left him “in no doubt about the scale of aid needed, and the EBRD is determined to do everything possible to fulfill its role.”
“The EBRD is the largest institutional investor in Ukraine, with which relations continue for 30 years. It is scary to watch the damage caused by the Russian aggression, and at the same time it is touching to see the stability of the population. I said this on February 24 and I will say – we are on the side of Ukraine,” – he declared.
It will be remembered that Zelensky and the President of the EBRD discussed lending to the energy sector of Ukraine.
Earlier it was reported that the EBRD will provide a loan to Naftogaz for 300 million euros.
