The Czech gas company is ready to sue the Russian gas exporter for up to one billion Czech crowns.
Czech energy company ČEZ will seek compensation from Russian Gazprom for delays in natural gas supplies in 2022. To this end, the company has turned to international arbitration. This was said by ČEZ CEO Daniel Beneš to ČT, according to the Czech edition Denik.cz.
According to the official, it is currently impossible to negotiate with Gazprom on supplies for 2023. He added that international arbitration in this situation is the only possible step.
“At a time when someone has not fulfilled the contract you have, it is difficult to talk about anything other than compensation for the loss,” he stressed.
ČEZ estimated the damage at around several hundred million to one billion CZK.
As already reported, Poland intends to remove from Gazprom a share in the section of the gas pipeline to Europe.
Note that the Czech authorities will ban the entry of Russians on tourist and student visas in response to a large-scale missile attack in Ukraine.
