Sebastian Lecornu, after talks with the Minister of Defense of the Russian Federation, will also talk with his Ukrainian counterpart.
The French Minister of the Armed Forces, Sebastian Lecornu, after talks with the head of the Russian Defense Ministry, Sergei Shoigu, will also talk with his Ukrainian counterpart. This is stated in a press release from the French Ministry of Defense, posted on their Twitter.
The document says the French official spoke with Shoigu on October 23 at the latter’s request. The Russian minister said he was allegedly “afraid of a dirty bombing attack on the territory of Ukraine to blame Russia for it.”
“The Minister of Armed Forces reminded that France rejects any form of escalation, especially nuclear. France calls on Russia to stop the war of aggression against Ukraine and is doing everything possible to promote de-escalation,” the French ministry said in a statement.
France is determined to contribute to the peaceful resolution of the conflict with its allies, Lecornu added.
“The ministers agreed to maintain contact. In the near future, the Minister of Armed Forces will talk with a colleague in Ukraine,” concluded the French Defense Ministry.
It should be noted that on Sunday, October 23, Shoigu had a telephone conversation with colleagues from France, Turkey, the United States and Great Britain.
