At a meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers, the Prime Minister spoke about the consequences of missile attacks on the country’s infrastructure and the help of allies.
Despite the fact that Russia has been striking the energy infrastructure for more than a week, the situation remains under control. This was announced on October 21 by the Prime Minister of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal at a meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers.
“Despite the fact that energy infrastructure strikes have been made for more than a week, the situation remains difficult, but controlled. We have significantly increased the number of repair teams. Additional equipment for repairs have been purchased and stored in safe places. Partner countries continue to provide the necessary assistance,” said Shmyhal.
The head of government listed the countries that are helping Ukraine overcome its problems.
“The United States has allocated $55 million for the repair and maintenance of gas pipelines, as well as the provision of power generators, alternative sources of fuel for social infrastructure. The Netherlands is providing €70 million. Denmark during the heating season in the Nikolaev Region. There are preliminary agreements with Norway and the UK on gas supplies, especially in the case of critical winter needs,” he explained.
According to Shmyhal, the European Union and Canada “are also joining in to help,” and companies from Belgium, Poland, Germany, Italy and other countries have donated generators, transformer equipment, wires, insulators for power lines at Ukrenergo.
“They are sending not only today, but all these months, thanks to which we can quickly resume power supplies,” the prime minister emphasized.
He noted that all services run 24/7.
“Restrictions and closures are possible, especially in regions with traditionally high consumption and those that have suffered from rocket attacks – in the central regions, northeast and west. But almost all the territories controlled by Ukraine is provided with electricity. Now 99% of settlements where There is no electricity on a permanent basis – these are either occupied territories or settlements in the vicinity of the conflict zone, and there are no opportunities to make repairs,” Shmihal said.
Recall that the Russians have already conducted approximately 300 strikes on Ukraine’s energy system. Utilities are now taking action that would be required in the event of “dramatic damage”. They will take time to recover.
