After the sinking of the flagship of the Black Sea Fleet of the Russian Federation, its commander, Admiral Igor Osipov, was arrested.

The commander of the Black Sea Fleet of the Russian Federation, Admiral Igor Osipov, was removed from his post and arrested after the destruction of the Moscow missile cruiser. This was announced on Thursday, April 21 by Defense Express, citing sources.

It was noted that the fleet command began searching for the “culprit” in the destruction of the cruiser. An investigation is also underway against the chief of staff – the first deputy commander of the fleet, Vice Admiral Sergei Pinchuk.

The publication added that Vice Admiral Arkady Romanov will temporarily lead the Black Sea Fleet.

The publication also quoted the words of Osipov, who once said that without a cruiser he could not be the commander of the fleet.

“The Black Sea Fleet could not survive without the missile cruiser Moscow. I would not be commander of the fleet if I did not have a flagship,” the publication quoted him as saying.

In addition, the publication wrote that before Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, Osipov personally tested the cruiser’s ability to repel air strikes.

Recall that the attack on the enemy cruiser Moscow was made on April 13. At the same time, the Russian Defense Ministry claims that the cruiser Moskva did not sink as a result of “detonation of ammunition” and the fire and “maintains buoyancy . ” However, the department later admitted that the flagship of the Russian fleet had sunk.
