Gromov said that in recent days, 81 missiles out of 126 used by Russia in Ukraine have been destroyed.
Oleksiy Gromov, Deputy Head of the Main Operational Directorate of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, said that the effectiveness of the Ukrainian air defense system is 64%. He said this in a briefing on October 20.
According to Gromov, 81 of the 126 missiles used by Russia in Ukraine were destroyed.
He noted that an analysis of the nature of the enemy’s use of missile weapons in recent times shows a sharp and significant increase in its intensity.
“So, since October 10, the enemy fired 154 missiles into the territory of Ukraine, which is almost seven times higher than in the first ten days of the month. In the first ten days, 21 missiles were fired,” said Gromov .
According to him, air-launched cruise missiles have been the main type of missile weapons used by the enemy in the past.
“The number of missiles used – 83 units – exceeded the number of missiles of this type used in four months: in June, July, August and September. During that time, only 43 missiles were used ,” said Gromov.
He added that almost a third (29% of the missiles used) were Kalibr-type sea-launched cruise missiles, which were also not used last time. In addition, the enemy increased the intensity of the use of ground-based cruise missiles, used eight missiles, while in the previous period it used only one missile on the territory of Ukraine.
“The analysis of the nature of the enemy’s use of kamikaze drones of the Shahed 136 type in the past period also shows a sharp increase in its intensity. Since October 10, the enemy has used 176 unmanned aerial vehicles against targets on the territory of Ukraine, which is 2.5 times larger compared to the previous decade,” said Gromov.
According to him, of the 65 drones used by the enemy in the past week, 27 units were fired from the territory of Belarus.
It will be remembered that Andriy Yermak, head of the Office of the President, called on foreign partners to strengthen Ukraine’s air defense.
It is also reported that Ukraine is asking Israel for air defense systems such as Iron Beam, Barak-8, Patriot, Iron Dome, David’s Sling, Arrow Interceptor.
