A 24-year-old man was arrested and charged with the murder of four people, at least three of them Peruvians, in an apartment building in WoodbridgeVirginia, about 45 miles southwest of Washington.
The victims were identified as Michael Flowers44 years old; Kelly Soteloout of 42, Carrie Sotelo19 and Richard Revollar Corrales36. The latter, apparently, lived in the house as a tenant in the basement.
Ministry of Foreign Affairs confirmed that at least three of the victims had Peruvian citizenship, while the citizenship of the fourth had yet to be confirmed.
The police bulletin noted that the “apparently domestic” incident occurred on Monday afternoon, that three of the four people were family members, and that the 19-year-old girl appeared to be the first to be attacked.
Prince William County Police Chief, Peter Newsham, identified the suspect as Daniel Mainresident of Woodbridge and now charged with four counts of second-degree murder and two counts of using a firearm in the commission of a crime.
“The only word I can use to describe it is ‘stupidity,'” Newsham told the media. “It makes absolutely no sense that someone could take four lives like that.”
In the study
According to authorities, the suspect was known to another family member who also lived in the house but was not present when the attack took place.
After the incident at the house, the suspect left the place and called the police. Police officer to report that someone fired at the house, according to authorities.
The investigators who arrived at the scene found a house with unlocked doors, and during the inspection they found two men and two women dead with gunshot wounds in different parts of the house.
The police then found the suspect near the house and detained him.
“We are still trying to determine the motive for this case,” Newsham said. (EFE)
