Russian propaganda is preparing the conditions to explain the likely retreat of the invaders and the loss of part of the Kherson region.
Russian propagandists began to create informational conditions to justify the loss of Kherson and the complete retreat of the invaders from the right bank of the Dnieper. This is stated in the report of analysts of the American Institute for the Study of War (ISW).
Analysts drew attention to the words of the commander of Russian troops in Ukraine, Sergei Surovikin, that the leadership of the aggressor country must make a “difficult decision” regarding the Kherson region and the “evacuation” announced by Gauleiter Volodymyr Saldo.
“The statements of Surovikin and Saldo are probably an attempt to create informational conditions for the complete retreat of Russia across the Dnieper, which will transfer (thus – ed.) the city of Kherson and other important territory of the Kherson region to Ukrainian defenders conducting counter-offensive operations in the south,” the report said. report.
In addition, analysts said that the Russian invaders also created informational conditions for the attack on the Kakhovskaya hydroelectric power station, which they could link to the Ukrainian Armed Forces.
“The Russians may believe that a breach of the dam could cover their retreat from the right bank of the Dnieper and prevent or delay Ukraine’s advance across the river,” ISW said.
It should be noted that, according to the adviser to the Office of the President Mykhailo Podolyak, the invaders fled Kherson less than a month after the announcement of the annexation of the Ukrainian region.
