This Wednesday, the World Health Organization (WHO) decided to keep the COVID-19 pandemic as an international health emergency due to ongoing uncertainties, in particular related to the evolution of the virus, which can mutate to become more dangerous and evade immunity.
“While it is clear that the global situation has improved since the start of the coronavirus pandemic, COVID-19the virus continues to change and there are still uncertainties and many risks,” the CEO said. WHOTedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus.
This decision was recommended by an international group of experts that are part of the Committee for Emergency Situations. WHOresponsible for assessing every three months whether the spread of the disease poses a threat to international public health.
