The passport must have a stamp confirming the temporary protection status and providing access to the labor market.
New rules for Ukrainian refugees will come into effect in the Netherlands from November 1. The government portal reported this.
“From November 1, 2022, a sticker or an O-document from the Immigration and Naturalization Service (IND) is mandatory for Ukrainians who are in the Netherlands because of the war when applying for work,” the report said .
Said passport sticker is proof of the provision of temporary protection and access to the labor market.
As you know, the laws of the Netherlands only allow the employment of foreign nationals after the employer has received the appropriate permit. But for Ukrainian refugees, the authorities decided to make an exception.
So, from April 1, there was an exemption for employers from the obligation to obtain work permits for Ukrainians. This is a transitional period. During this time, Ukrainians were given the opportunity to complete all the necessary IND documents, confirming the status of temporarily displaced persons, which gives the right to work in the Netherlands.
This transitional arrangement will expire on 31 October. This means that from November 1, Ukrainian refugees can only show that they are covered by the Temporary Protection Directive if the person has an IND-issued sticker or O-document.
Remember that the European Commission is extending protection for Ukrainian refugees for one year.
It is also reported that the flow of refugees from Ukraine to Europe will increase in winter.
