Madagascar has so far abstained from voting on resolutions related to Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.
The Foreign Minister of Madagascar, Richard Randriamandrato, was forced to leave his post due to the fact that when voting at the UN General Assembly, the delegation of Madagascar voted in favor of condemning Russia’s attempted annexation of the occupied territories of Ukraine. This was reported by Reuters.
Two senior sources in the Madagascar President’s office reported that Randriamandrato was fired by the country’s President for voting in support of the UN General Assembly resolution condemning Russia’s actions.
Randriamandrato has yet to comment on his resignation.
Madagascar has so far abstained from voting on resolutions related to Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, as it officially follows a “policy of neutrality.”
Remember, on October 12, 143 participants in the 11th emergency special session of the UN General Assembly voted to condemn the illegal annexation of Ukraine’s territory by Russia. There are five matches – Russia, Belarus, North Korea, Syria and Nicaragua.
