Employees of the Security Service of Ukraine detained a Russian agent who collected intelligence about the control centers of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and the Security Service of Ukraine, as well as the coordinates of local authorities and hospitals in the Chernihiv region. It was reported on the website of special services on Wednesday, October 19.

It is indicated that the enemy agent also monitors the movement routes of Ukrainian troops on the territory of the region. The invaders planned to use the information received for massive air strikes on state institutions and social facilities in the region.

According to the investigation, the detainee is a resident of Severodonetsk, Luhansk region, who several years ago moved to the Chernihiv region and received the status of a temporarily displaced person.

At the beginning of the whole attack of the Russian Federation, he was recruited by the special services of the aggressor country. Russia has noticed him because of his pro-Kremlin position and repeated statements in support of armed aggression against Ukraine.

The man began to carry out hostile activities after the liberation of the region. At the direction of his supervisor in Moscow, he photographed Ukrainian objects in relation to the land and indicated their geolocation on electronic maps.

He then transferred the relevant materials to the invaders through anonymous messengers. For the fulfillment of the “orders” the agent received money from Russia.

SBU employees documented the fact that the agent collected information about the location of the border control and several checkpoints of the Ukrainian military near the state border. During the searches, law enforcement officials found a mobile phone with evidence of contact with a Russian operative.

The detainee was informed of the suspicion. He was given a measure of restraint in the form of detention.
