History of Nikita
In May 2020, the National Anti-Corruption Bureau and the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office completed an investigation into the case of misappropriation of the property of the National Guard. The person involved in the NSU apartment case is the ex-president of Ukrstroy, a former people’s deputy from the Will of the People group Maxim Nikitas.
Back in October 2019, he was informed of suspicion. The former deputy, in collusion with the ex-commander of the National Guard, “saved” more than 81 million hryvnias on apartments for the military.
The Appeals Chamber considered the complaint of SAPO prosecutors because of the too lenient preventive measure for Nikitas. With the established damage, the ex-deputy was previously assigned a bail in the amount of 5.5 million hryvnia. Consequently, VAKS took the ex-people’s deputy into custody, and determined the amount of bail in the amount of UAH 80 million.
Before that, Nikita spent some time in a pre-trial detention center, but left the bars when he paid bail. Oleg Tatarov, deputy head of the presidential office, was also involved in the case, but he managed to escape punishment and remain in office.
In early December 2020, NABU announced that Nikitas voluntarily reimbursed UAH 50 million to the state budget. of the total loss of UAH 81.64 million. Subsequently, he was once again under arrest.
