Dissatisfaction with the chancellor’s decision is growing within the coalition, but the opposition could actually begin the procedure for declaring no confidence in Scholz early next week.
Because of the refusal to provide heavy weapons to Ukraine, German Chancellor Olaf Scholz may resign. Spiegel reports.
It was noted that dissatisfaction with the chancellor’s decision is growing within the coalition, but the opposition could actually start the procedure for declaring no confidence in Scholz early next week.
Next week, the leaders of the opposition bloc of the Christian Democratic and Christian Social Unions (CDU/CSU) aim to introduce a draft resolution on providing heavy weapons to Ukraine if the chancellor does not do so.
As the newspaper wrote, the resolution is quite capable of collecting the majority of votes, because the idea of †‹вЂ‹ providing heavy weapons in Kiev has widespread support in the coalition itself.
It noted that “in this case, Scholz’s position will be so shaken that he really needs to ask for a vote of confidence, that is, to get a majority in the Bundestag.”
Recall that the leader of Germany’s largest opposition party, the CDU, Friedrich Merz criticized German Chancellor Olaf Scholz for delays in providing Ukraine with heavy weapons.
It was also reported that dissatisfaction with German Chancellor Olaf Scholz’s work in the country had reached a record since December – the time he was in office. This was confirmed by the INSA survey for Bild am Sonntag.
