The United States does not observe signs indicating the readiness of the Russian Federation to use nuclear weapons against Ukraine.
The United States has been closely monitoring the progress of Russia’s nuclear exercises and has so far observed no signs indicating Russia’s readiness to use nuclear weapons in a war against Ukraine. This was said by White House strategic communications coordinator John Kirby, NPR reports.
According to him, as part of these exercises, the Russians will move some of their strategic assets.
“However, we see no indication that, as part of these exercises or in any other context, Russian President Vladimir Putin has decided to use nuclear weapons or weapons of mass destruction in Ukraine,” said Kirby.
He noted that now the exercises of the Russian Federation will be held according to the same plan as in previous years.
According to Kirby, such exercises are scheduled in Russia regularly to test their own nuclear capabilities.
Recall that the West has begun to develop a plan to avoid panic in the event that Russian President Vladimir Putin still decides to use nuclear weapons in Ukraine or near it.
It was also reported that NATO is starting the annual Steadfast Noon nuclear exercise in Europe.
