The National Bank of Ukraine announced a preliminary meeting between members of the mission and representatives of the NBU.
The delegation of the National Bank of Ukraine (NBU) met with members of the IMF mission in the US capital of Washington. The press service of the National Bank reported this on Saturday, October 15 on its Facebook page.
“We pay attention to the joint work agenda in Vienna, which will take place next week,” the regulator said in a statement.
The NBU noted that the parties also discussed several important issues.
“Preparatory work with representatives of the IMF mission also continued. We paid attention to the agenda of the joint work in Vienna, which will take place next week, and discussed macroeconomic trends, the situation with domestic financial market, the transmission of changes in the discount rate to the yield of market instruments and the development of attraction to government debt in the domestic market,” the statement said.
The Deputy Governors of the National Bank of Ukraine Sergei Nikolaychuk and Yuriy Heletiy, as well as the Head of the European Integration and International Programs Department Volodymyr Kuchin are participating in the Annual Meeting of the International Monetary Fund and the World Bank on behalf of the National Bank of Ukraine.
As you know, the Deputy Head of the National Bank Yuriy Helety said that the priority for the government and regulator in the future of the month is to cooperate with the IMF and open a new comprehensive program for Ukraine.
Recall that the amount of cash withdrawals of Ukrainians who were forced to stay abroad was divided due to the introduction of NBU limits on relevant transactions.
In addition, in Ukraine there is a decrease in demand for foreign currency. This allowed the National Bank to reduce the purchase of dollars in the interbank market.
