The Kremlin continues to try to divert attention from military mobilization and failure by launching missile strikes on Ukraine.
Public reports of the first deaths of untrained mobilized Russian troops in Ukraine have sparked renewed criticism of Russia’s military command. This was announced by the American Institute for the Study of War (ISW) in a report for October 13.
Thus, Russian media reported the death of five evacuees from Chelyabinsk in fighting on Ukrainian territory just three weeks after the announcement of partial mobilization by Russian President Vladimir Putin.
This information led many military bloggers to speculate about the high casualties among the Russians mobilized due to the lack of promised training, equipment, cohesion between units and commanders, and repeated opportunities of improper movement.
“Russia’s mobilization structures continue to face bureaucratic problems, which may further undermine the combat effectiveness of mobilized personnel. Military bloggers claim that the Russian Ministry of Defense has not created proper conditions for the integration and control of the placement of mobilized men at the front. Military units distribute mobilized men to different units without proper consideration of their deployment, resulting in families complaining to the military leadership,” ISW wrote.
Analysts emphasized that the Russian authorities continue to try to distract the public from the mobilization and failure of the military by launching missile attacks on Ukraine.
“The Kremlin continued its general strategy of temporarily appeasing nationalist communities by launching retaliatory missile strikes in Ukraine in an attempt to distract itself from ongoing mobilization problems. The renewed criticism of mobilization shows once again whether how short-lived the Kremlin’s success was in diverting attention from it,” the report said.
Calls have been renewed for Russia to replace senior officers and commanders, as well as to declare war on Ukraine, which is expected to be the Kremlin’s response to the explosions of the bridge across the Kerch Strait, the disruption of the mobilization process and the loss of most of the Kharkiv and Liman region, summed up in the ISW.
Russia has previously been reported to have stepped up an information campaign to falsely portray Ukraine as a terrorist state to divert attention from its own crimes.
